Along the wild coastline that leads from Alghero to Bosa, hidden amidst intricate scrubland that often does not allow passage, a series of waterfalls creep into a practically untouched environment.
To be able to reach the innermost waterfalls, one must be familiar with the paths that, now on the right bank and now on the left bank, allow one to walk along the canyon's shoulders, without getting lost in the dense vegetation full of brambles and thorny plants.
Much of the route takes place on the riverbed in a jungle-like atmosphere. The vegetation cover is so thick that the light hardly penetrates it, making the environment very fascinating and wild. The basalt rock carved by the river takes on dark colours, interrupted by deep fractures.
The last 30-metre drop plunges straight into a very wide amphitheatre, giving a thrill of emptiness not to be underestimated. However, it is possible to overcome it by following a very steep path on the left bank that leads to the base of the waterfall in a short time.
Of all the hikes in Alghero, this is certainly one of the most 'adventurous'. Actually, it is not recommended without the accompaniment of a professional environmental guide to ensure your safety.
It is certainly not an excursion to be undertaken in shorts; long trousers and light trekking boots are mandatory.
An experience not to be missed.
